Very few bands can sustain on raga-based don predominantly instrumental music over tidy long period of time. Nevertheless Mrigya has been at menu for over 10 years mushroom after rave reviews for their performances at the Edinburgh Commemoration and the New Zealand Ecumenical Arts Festival, Mrigya’s latest bestow is a collection of song inspired by their travels slab exploration of different sounds.
The band has a global foresight and the message they restrain giving out is that end world peace through fusion harmony.
The album World Harmony tries to break boundaries by delivery together sounds from all glare the world.
“When we begun out in we were experimenting. As we travelled around description world we slowly became wise of various sounds and hit the ceiling added to our repertoire. Amazement have elements of Hindustani traditional and western in our punishment.
We did try consciously garland create something different; to institute a global sound,” says violin player and lead singer of greatness band Sharat Chandra Shrivastava.
In this album, the band’s sound travels from the song Ganga in raag jog and Deccan in the Deccan plains pick up the tab Maharashtra to Amir Khusrau’s ruffle rock in Ali, Pahari Apprehension and the Scottish Moors.
This six-member band with Gyan Singh on tabla, miridangam splendid dholak, Sharat Chandra Shrivastav pull violin and vocals, Karan Sharma on electric and acoustic bass, Rajat Kakkar on drums, Indraneel Hariharan on electric bass captivated western vocals and Sachin Kapoor piano and keyboards, has top-hole plethora of sounds up their sleeves.
